One of the reasons I became a primary school teacher is because I enjoyed all the different subjects at school: I loved learning about everything and so as a primary school teacher, I continued to learn about everything. I think I enjoy teaching English a little bit more than the other subjects because I absolutely love reading and there are SO many brilliant children and young adult books - I love reading them and have a big pile by my bed.
When I'm not tutoring, I love spending time with my family (I have a husband and four children). We enjoy walking on the coast path and exploring parts of Cornwall that we aren't familiar with. We are quite a musical family who play lots of different instruments, so we spend time together, singing and playing music. I love gardening - I have a vegetable plot that is never very successful and lots of flower beds where lots of the flowers I have planted get eaten - but I keep learning from my mistakes and hope every year that my garden will be more successful!
There is absolutely nothing better, as a tutor or a teacher, than to feel like you have made a difference in a young person's life. It really is the best job in the world and I still want to continue to have a positive influence on young people's lives - that's why I am a tutor.
