Teaching maths is really exciting, because it allows you to delve into the different ways people approach maths problems. I love comparing methods of finding a result, analysing the decisions we make in maths and understanding how different students think. I am also drawn towards patterns and enjoy noticing these in the real world. In terms of English, it unlocks the door to all sorts of learning in different subjects. I am curious about the way language is used for different effects and relish tapping into individual student's interests. I believe it is crucial to capture this, in order to maximise the potential in English learning. I am also passionate about combining an understanding of our literary heritage with contemporary pieces of work.

Outside of work, I enjoy getting outdoors with my wife and 2 children (8 and 10). We love camping, going to the beach and surfing. I also have a passion for new music and am keen to play the drums again!

I have spent a large part of my career working in schools, where there are hundreds of interactions every day. I am looking forward to focusing on work with one student at a time, or in small groups. I also believe this is a really good opportunity to tailor learning to suit individual interests and learning styles.
